Celebrate 100 Years of Ford Truck History

Nine years after introducing the Model T, Henry Ford envisioned a vehicle that was capable of hauling heavier loads and offering greater utility to his customers. On July 27, 1917, the Model TT was launched. Bearing the Model T's cab and engine, this vehicle offered a stronger frame that was capable of hauling a one ton payload. The factory price for the vehicle was $600, and 209 were sold that year.

In the 100 years since then, Ford has earned its reputation and customers' respect for dependably producing trucks that deserve to be described as Built Ford Tough.

Ford's EcoBoost Engine Receives International Award

Ford's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine was chosen as the 2017 International Engine of the Year "Best Engine Under 1.0-liter" winner in Cologne, Germany last month. The engine remains undefeated since it was introduced in 2012, winning the award for a sixth consecutive year.

The compact, three cylinder engine earned praise from a prestigious panel of 58 automotive journalists from 31 countries for its winning blend of performance, fuel efficiency and technology.

Ford Adds to Investment in its Kentucky Plant

Ford announced in June that the company is making a $900 million investment in its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, allowing the facility to build all-new Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator SUVs that will arrive at U.S. dealerships in the fall. Both SUVs will also be exported to over 55 markets globally, helping cement Ford's place as a top United States auto exporter.

Ford Fusion Receives Motorweek Drivers' Choice Award

Earlier this year, it was announced that the 2017 Ford Fusion had been selected as the 2017 Motorweek Drivers' Choice Award for the Best Family Sedan, with the vehicle being lauded for delivering sport-driving features such as continuously controlled damping in a four-door family sedan.

The 2017 Fusion is packed with more technology than ever before, including driver assistance features like Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go.

2017 Ford Fiesta Earns a Kelley Blue Book Award

Kelley Blue Book declared earlier this year that the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST received their 5-Year Cost to Own Award for sporty compact cars, due in no small part to the vehicle's low Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price and reasonable anticipated maintenance expenses.

The Ford Fiesta ST is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged direct-injection EcoBoost® four cylinder engine that boasts an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city/33 mpg highway/29 mpg combined. This fuel efficiency helped the vehicle win the award, as did its low starting price point.

Ford Reports May Sales Gain

Earlier this month, Ford Motor Company revealed that sales in the U.S. totaled 241,126 vehicles for a gain of 2.2 percent compared to May 2016 results. The month's performance was fueled by strong sales in the from the SUV and truck segments, as increased fleet sales helped overcome a slight drop in retail consumer sales.

A total of 76,027 F-Series pickups were sold in May for an improvement of 12.8 percent, delivering the segment's best May sales results since 2004.
